Sybil and Gary Calder are retired commercial cut flower growers. Both have worked within the horticulture/floriculture fields most of their adult lives.
The idea for Sunrise Baskets originated with one of their florist clients. They took the idea and turned it into their own image of something that could be used every day and hold up for many years. Many of their popular designs originated from customers wanting a particular basket. Many will become family heirlooms.
Both Sybil and Gary were born in 1951. They remember when items were made in the USA with materials made in the USA. Items designed and made to last for years with daily use. This is the intent of Sunrise Baskets. To quote Sybil, "We take a great deal of pride when saying that our baskets are all made at our kitchen table". Sunrise Baskets currently makes and stocks about 35 designs that are offered in both natural or with a ribbon color accent.
